TFE Properties has debuted the first piece of a development that will bring nearly 175 new townhome-style apartments to a site that’s minutes from downtown Somerville.
The firm last month announced it was welcoming residents to what’s known as Kirby Village, at 50 Kirby Ave., where it’s repurposing the former Baker & Taylor book warehouse property just north of NJ Transit’s Raritan Valley Line. Roughly 60 units are available, with another 20 set to come online by October and the balance opening on a rolling basis through next spring.
The 11-acre site will ultimately house 174 units across multiple buildings.
“We’re very excited to bring Kirby Village to the bustling town of Somerville,” said Scott Tajfel, regional property manager of East Windsor-based TFE Properties. “It’s the perfect location for commuters, for new families and for anyone who wants to be in the center of it all.
“Prospective tenants are loving the convenient location, spacious floor plans, modern finishes, and all the high-tech amenities we’ve offered as options, like electric vehicle chargers in select units.”
With homes ranging from 800 to 1,452 square feet, TFE is marketing a mix of one- and two-bedroom floorplans with high-end designs, finishes and appliances. Amenities include a fully equipped fitness center, a kids’ play area, an outdoor heated pool and an on-site, fenced-in dog park.
Renters, meantime, are minutes from Interstate 287, Routes 202 and 206 and several NJ Transit train stations. They’re also just a mile from Somerville’s central business district and a host of shops, restaurants and cultural offerings.
“The initial response from the community has been extremely positive,” said Carey Tajfel, president of TFE Properties. “The demographic moving to this area expects an elevated level of comfort and convenience with high-tech features. We’re proud to meet those high standards in this community. Our preleasing period was busy, and we expect to fill all vacancies in the coming months.”
