Walters has leased up a new 50-unit residential property in Holmdel, one of the latest additions to its portfolio of income-restricted housing at the Jersey Shore and across the state.
According to a news release, the firm developed the three-building Cornerstone at Holmdel project on a nearly four-acre site at 461 Middle Road. The complex is now fully occupied, following its completion in June, offering a mix of one- to three-bedroom units and amenities such as a fitness room, a playground and outdoor areas with seating and gas grills.
“Walters is committed to serving the needs of New Jersey’s residents by providing safe, decent rental opportunities,” said Joseph Del Duca, partner and director of affordable housing for the Barnegat-based developer. “Walters has built 25 income-restricted communities to date and each one provides affordable housing for local people who otherwise would find it difficult to remain in the area.”
Cornerstone at Holmdel is available to residents whose incomes are at or below 60 percent of the area median income, the news release said. Rental rates are based on the renter’s gross annual income, according to the rent and income requirements chart.
Walters added that it designed and built the project to achieve ENERGY STAR certification and gold certification on the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design scale. Residents have full-size washers and dryers, dishwashers, controlled heating and central air conditioning, along with a private front door entrance that opens directly to the street.
Additionally, renters are minutes from the Holmdel Towne Center and The Commons at Holmdel, which offer a range of shopping, dining and banking opportunities, as well as Allocco Park, an 11-acre recreational area.
