Prologis Inc. has broken ground on a 379,000-square-foot logistics facility in Maywood, expanding a footprint that already includes more than 100 properties in northern New Jersey.
Located at 241 Route 17 North, the project will leverage a location that is just off Interstate 80 and minutes from routes 46 and 4. Plans call for 40-foot clear ceiling heights, 34 dock doors, two drive-in doors, 8,000 square feet of office space, parking for 72 trailers and 309 cars and eight dual electric vehicle charging stations.
The real estate investment trust expects to complete the building by early 2027.
“We are excited to move forward with Prologis Meadowlands, helping meet the demand for high-quality, well-located logistics infrastructure in northern New Jersey,” said Mike Sacro, senior vice president and market officer for Prologis’ New Jersey-New York portfolio. “These facilities are critical in ensuring efficiency in the supply chains that businesses and residents rely on every day as well as supporting communities through local jobs and economic activity.”
The development is adding to the REIT’s already-vast portfolio in northern New Jersey, which includes some 112 facilities totaling more than 22.7 million square feet, Prologis said. In Maywood, its future tenants will be roughly 14 miles from the Lincoln Tunnel and 21 miles from Newark Liberty International Airport and Port Newark-Elizabeth.
“This project reflects our continued conviction in New Jersey as one of the East Coast’s most important logistics hubs,” said Read Mortimer, senior vice president and investment officer for Prologis. “Through a disciplined investment approach, we are strengthening our portfolio in a high-demand market while creating value for our customers and the Maywood community.”
