Paramount Assets has attracted another retailer to its new boutique apartment building in Newark, inking a 1,500-square-foot lease with a Japanese fast casual concept.
The real estate investment firm on Friday announced the lease with Go! Go! Curry, which is taking the space at the base of the William Flats project at 1 William St. The operator, which specializes in Japanese comfort food, is slated to open this fall and will mark its entrance to New Jersey with the new location.
Samir Guzman, Paramount’s executive director of leasing and marketing, completed the deal on behalf of ownership. Ryan Starkman of Pierson Commercial represented the tenant.
“This location — at the corner of Broad and William Street, directly across from the Prudential Center — has high intrinsic value,” Guzman said. “The presence of two national tenants and the fact that this newly constructed ‘white-box’ space was ready for build-out made it very attractive to this franchise owner.
“Go! Go! Curry’s innovative business model and unique product offerings are a perfect fit for what we have created at this property, and we are confident this restaurant will become a great amenity for the building’s residential tenants, as well as those who live and work in the community.”
William Flats, a 37-unit luxury apartment building, opened its doors late last year after Paramount restored and converted the former United Women’s Garment Workers’ Union headquarters property. Go! Go! Curry is the latest tenant to commit to the property’s 12,000-square-foot commercial space, joining 7-Eleven and Santander Bank.
The franchise’s first U.S. location opened near Times Square in 2007, according to a news release. The growing chain now operates eight locations in New York, Massachusetts and Texas.
“When Go! Go! Curry first opened in New York City we immediately were hooked on its innovative menu and dreamt of one day opening our own location,” said franchise owners Joy Lumbres and Patrick Lumbres. “Our dreams came true and we are excited to bring Go! Go! Curry to the good people in Newark.
“Working with Paramount Assets made the entire leasing process seamless. We were impressed with their professionalism and market knowledge and look forward to a continued relationship with this organization.”
