Commercial real estate leaders flocked to downtown Newark on Monday for one of NAIOP New Jersey’s signature events, as the association honored a slate of highly regarded members and others that have helped support the industry in the Garden State.
With some 250 registered guests, the annual President’s Awards and Hall of Fame Reception continued its tradition of showcasing a mix of young leaders and seasoned professionals across multiple disciplines and categories. But it also came with a new format as NAIOP pivoted from the traditional sit-down dinner and opted for a more informal honoree reception.
It all took place inside the sleek Jewel Box atrium lobby that opened in 2022 at Newark’s landmark Gateway Center office complex, which attendees packed on Monday night as they enjoyed networking both before and after the program. Honorees included:
- Legacy Award: William Hanson, NAI James E. Hanson
- Pillar Award: State Assemblyman Robert J. Karabinchak
- Advocacy Award: David Greek, Greek Real Estate Partners
- Volunteer of the Year: Keith Lieberman, T&M Associates
- Rising Star Award: Bridget B. Wilcox, G.S. Wilcox & Co.
- Student Award: Lauren Munari, Columbia University/Terreno Realty Corp.
NAIOP New Jersey CEO Dan Kennedy welcomed the crowd for what is the group’s last major networking event of the year, before yielding to Rockefeller Group’s Mark Shearer and Greek Real Estate Partners’ Matt Schlindwein. The executives, the chapter’s board president and president-elect, respectively, presented the awards as they highlighted accomplishments that ranged from supporting the organization’s youngest members to scoring key legislative victories for the commercial real estate sector.
“Our chapter is fortunate to have the most talented, engaged and dedicated professionals in the commercial real estate industry,” said Shearer, senior managing director for Rockefeller Group’s north central region. “Tonight we have the privilege of recognizing not just achievement, but also the embodiment of selfless service, professionalism and success.
“Each our honorees sets an inspiring example, particularly for our emerging leaders.”
