A charter school has a new home in downtown Newark after a signing a 50,000-square-foot lease with the Berger Organization, in a deal arranged by Newmark Associates CRE.
In a news release, the brokerage firm said Newark Educators Community Charter School found the location at 570 Broad St. ahead of the 2023/2024 school year. The lease allows the school to support its growing student body, Newmark Associates said, noting that the facility provides it with a spacious and modern learning environment that includes a dedicated dance studio, music room and science lab.
Newmark’s Ebony Parham and Jeannette Melillo completed the transaction.
“We at NECCS are excited to have a new home,” said Chalynda Maynard, president of the NECCS school board. “The space was strategically chosen by Newmark Associates based on our defined needs. This space meets all our needs, enabling us to provide designated spaces and rooms for enrichment programs.”
Phil Neuer provided legal counsel to the school, helping to ensure expedited lease negotiations to assure the timeline for occupancy was met.
“The Berger Organization is very pleased with the leasing of 50,000 square feet to Newark Educators Community Charter School, and looks forward to a long-term relationship with this charter school as a tenant,” said Miles Berger, CEO of the Berger Organization.
Parham, a vice president at Cedar Knolls-based Newmark, added: “We are thrilled to have secured this outstanding space for NECCS. This lease is a reflection of our commitment to meeting the needs of our clients and our support for local education.”
