A fast-casual Greek restaurant has opened its doors at The Junction at Gateway Center in Newark, bringing another option to workers and visitors at the downtown office complex.
The operator, The Gyro Project, held a grand opening this week for a location that will offer a modern, street food-style menu with gyro platters, souvlaki, Greek-style lamb chops, moussaka and house-stacked meats, among other options. It’s among the latest additions to the revamped dining and retail concourse at Gateway Center, the four-building, 2.3 million-square-foot complex across from Newark Penn Station, under an overhaul spearheaded by Onyx Equities and its investment partners.
In addition to its dining menu, The Gyro Project will offer a catering menu tailored for the in-office workplace.
“For us, Gateway and The Junction will always be about improving the experience of both working and living in Newark,” said Jon Schultz, cofounder and managing principal of Onyx Equities. “With the exciting addition of The Gyro Project, we are continuing to add to the elevated experience of the new Gateway Center.”
The Newark location follows the concept’s successful debut in Fort Lee in 2023, according to a news release. The Gyro Project is part of the ST Management Group, whose portfolio includes Café Metro, Metro Catering and Events and Cambridge Catering.
The company also operates fresh&co, which has a location at The Junction.
“When searching for the second location of The Gyro Project, The Junction immediately stood out as the perfect fit for us,” said George Tenedios, owner and president of ST Management Group. “This beautifully designed space attracts Gateway office tenants, as well as commuters and members of the grander Newark community. We invite everyone to join us and experience our modern take on what Greek food is all about.”
