Leasing is set to begin at a new 90-unit luxury apartment building in Orange, the third and final phase of a high-profile redevelopment near the city’s downtown and NJ Transit rail service.
Developed by PEEK Properties. PINNACLE Orange Crossing is slated to hit the market in March with a mix of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom floorplans. Renters will have access to amenities such as a modern fitness center, a resident lounge, a rooftop terrace with skyline views and a courtyard with seating areas and gathering places, while they’ll be a short walk from restaurants, shops and services in Orange’s Main Street business district.
The building will mark the conclusion of a project that has brought 239 apartments to a site just north of Interstate 280, where PEEK Properties is also taking advantage of tax benefits available under the federal Opportunity Zone program. The first two phases, APEX Orange Crossing and SUMMIT Orange Crossing, opened in 2022 and 2024, respectively.
“We are incredibly proud to open our doors to PINNACLE Orange Crossing,” said Darla Rodriquez, director of property management at Orange Crossing. “This ‘community-within-the-community’ stands as a testament to the power of successful public-private partnerships, demonstrating how we can collaboratively bring to life luxurious residential options that are accessible and affordable. While PINNACLE represents the final phase, Orange Crossing is the culmination of years of dedicated effort to revitalize downtown Orange and create a vibrant and thriving community for all.”
Located within the Reock Street Redevelopment Area, which saw a resurgence of interest after the 2017 Opportunity Zone law, Orange Crossing resulted from a collaboration between PEEK and city officials aiming to create equitable housing options, embrace smart growth principles and foster transit-oriented development, according to a news release. Those efforts recently drew acclaim from the American Planning Association, which presented the developer and city with its Outstanding Implementation Award.
PEEK added that, once the homes at PINNACLE Orange Crossing are move-in-ready, it will complete site clearing between the second and third phases to create a park for residents and the greater community. The developer also plans to move the Orange Crossing leasing office to 61 South Day St. and is launching an Instagram page to be a hub for updates on upcoming resident events and community gatherings for the public.
Meantime, residents will have access to more than 10 restaurants ranging from fast-casual to five-star dining, as well as a post office, the Orange Public Library, a supermarket and local merchant shops and boutiques. Orange Station is one block away, while destinations such as Seton Hall University, Bloomfield College and Caldwell University are all nearby.
