The owner of a historic bank building in downtown Rahway has tapped Zoltek Commercial Real Estate Services as its leasing agent, seeking a restaurant to fill a ground-floor retail space at the repurposed property.
The brokerage firm said the building, at 1420 Irving St., is already home to a loft-style co-working space. It’s now marketing 3,204 square feet at what’s known as The National, which it says will appeal to an operator with a lounge and bar vibe, with the potential to offer both outdoor and rooftop seating.
According to Urszula Zoltek of Zoltek CRES, attracting such a tenant would help complete the transformation of the former Rahway National Bank building, which has undergone several expansions and modifications over the years. The firm noted that The National overlooks the city’s train station, which has direct access to New York City and whose plaza courtyard hosts Rahway’s Summer Concerts Series, with live music and events running April through October.
The newly renovated suites on the second floor are 60 percent leased, Zoltek added, noting that only 753 square feet remains. The firm also said the remaining spaces include keyless entry, a shared kitchen and exposed brick, along with parking spaces that are included in the rent.
“We’d like it to do something different as it is in the center of a very busy square where summer festivities are taking place every weekend,” the undisclosed property owner said.
