The highly anticipated West Side Square project in Jersey City has its first retail tenant, securing a convenience store that will serve the property’s residents and those in the surrounding area.
The operator, Square Market, will occupy 1,500 square feet at 1075 West Side Ave. under the deal with West Side Square Development Fund. The ground-floor space will offer a wide range of everyday essentials, part of a nearly 10,000-square-foot retail component that will complement the project’s 477 luxury apartments while supporting the city’s emerging Marion neighborhood.
Bobby Antonicello Jr. of GRID Real Estate represented both sides in the transaction.
“We have always envisioned West Side Square to be much more than just a place to start and end the day,” said Raphael Mandelbaum, a principal at Lantree Developments. “Our retail leasing strategy is a key piece of that mission. Welcoming Square Market as our first retail tenant is another step toward realizing our vision of creating a vibrant neighborhood destination and we are excited to announce additional retail tenants in the months to come.”
West Side Square Development Fund — which consists of Lanterra Developments, Westdale Properties, Lantree Developments and Altree Developments — expects to welcome its first residents this August. Those renters will occupy floorplans ranging from studios to three-bedroom units, including townhome-style layouts, while they’ll have access to a long list of amenities highlighted by a rooftop pool, a fitness center, pet-friendly spaces and 24-hour doorman service.
Greystar spearheads property management and leasing at the site.
“We are excited to join West Side Square and provide residents of the Marion neighborhood with easy access to essential items close to home,” Square Market’s Dixit Patel said. “We look forward to serving the community and building lasting relationships with our customers and soon to be announced additional retail destinations at the building.”
